TWO cars parked in a quiet Newton Abbot road have been damaged after a paint stripper-type liquid was poured over them.

Police have appealed for witnesses after a silver Alpha Romeo and a black Jaguar saloon had fluid splashed over them in Decoy Road.

The incident happened overnight on Thursday, January 26.

It is the second time the cars have been hit, the first happened in December, police said.

PCSO Charlotte Perkin said: "We are appealing for help with regards to some damage that was caused to two vehicles in the Decoy Road area of Newton Abbot, where some liquid, possibly paint stripper was poured over the vehicles."

Information can be phoned through to police on phone number 101 quoting crime reference number JN/12/265.

School break-in

LAPTOPS and video cameras were stolen in a weekend break-in at King Edward VI Community School in Totnes.

Police are appealing for information about the burglary.

Three Toshiba laptops engraved with the word 'KEVICS', a camera and three video cameras were taken along with other electrical items in the break-in which happened some time between 9.30pm on Friday, January 27, and 7.15am on Monday, January 30.

Anybody with information is asked to call police on 101 quoting reference JS/12/108.

Recalled to jail

POLICE in the Torbay area are seeking a 25-year-old man who is wanted for recall to prison.

Police advise the public not to approach Ashley Brett who is sought because he has breached the conditions of his prison licence which has now been revoked.

He is 5ft 10in tall, medium build, with short brown hair and blue eyes.

Anyone who knows his whereabouts or has any information is asked to contact the police Crimestoppers number anonymously on 0800 555111 or report online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org

Metal stolen

POLICE in Teignmouth have launched an operation to target metal thieves.

High prices of metals have led to a rise in stolen items across the area.

Industrial and building sites, rail networks, rural dwellings and churches, are all targeted by thieves, police say. "We aim to reassure our communities we are doing everything we can to reduce the theft of metal in the area and keep Teignmouth a low crime area" said Sgt Chris Shaw.

If anyone has any information about metal thefts, call the police on 101.

How on earth can Police expect to get a response to their Decoy appeal when this is one of the few places that has all the street lights switched off overnight, although residents still pay as much as everyone else.
Yet the empty, (overnight), Council Offices and adjacent empty car park are ablaze with light all night ? !
What's the betting that the owners also claim on their Insurance, but in all probability told their Insurance companies the cars were garaged, or at least off road, overnight ?
This could be the thin edge of the wedge for Decoy car owners.
