An extension to the closure notice granted with regards to flat 4, 89, Wolborough Street, Newton Abbot was successfully applied for at Torquay magistrates Court on Monday (December 12).

It is believed that the third closure notice was the first in the country following continuous antisocial behaviour by the owner, Dawn Lewis and her associates towards the other residents.

At court yesterday the magistrates granted a three-month extension without hesitation thus providing the other residents with reassurance and peace of mind.

The flat is now closed until 3 April 2012.

Neighbourhood Beat Manager, Police Constable Ian Russell commented, "The extension was not contested and with the property now under offer it is hoped that the other residents will finally see an end to misery that has blighted their lives."
