The organisations have teamed up to offer free housing benefit and council tax benefit advice in a convenient town centre location.
Anyone can drop in during the weekly sessions held on Wednesdays from 9.30am – 4pm, based at Teign Housing's offices at the Butter Market. The sessions are open to everybody, not just residents of Teign Housing, and no appointment is necessary.
Anyone planning to apply for benefits or seek detailed advice at the sessions are advised to bring with them several proofs of ID, income, outgoings and existing benefits, allowances or pensions. Original documents are required for all applications. Typically these may include passports, driving licenses, recent utility bills, birth certificate, two recent bank statements, several payslips, pension slips, award letters from the Department for Work and Pensions, rent books or receipts, tenancy agreements and more.
A range of benefit services, including a benefits calculator for finding out if you're eligible for help, are available online at www.teignbridge.gov.uk/benefits.
