Essential maintenance will be carried out on the A379 between Shaldon and Torquay for five weeks from next week.

Work on the section of the road from Commons Lane to Maidencombe will get underway on Monday (7 November). The £400,000 scheme involves road strengthening and widening to the north of the A379 junction with Deane Lane. This will initially be daytime works using temporary traffic lights and a convoy system, which may result in some delays.

The road will then be closed overnight between 7pm and 7am from Monday 14 November until Friday 9 December for resurfacing. The night time closure has been timed so as not to affect bus services.

During the overnight closures a diversion route will be signed from Teignmouth via the A381, A380, A3022 Riviera Way and Hele Rd B3199 rejoining the A379 opposite Torquay Golf club; a distance of approximately ten miles.
