Man arrested after assault in Manor Road, Newton Abbot

A Newton Abbot man was arrested yesterday (Tuesday, July 5) following an assault in Manor Road, Newton Abbot on Saturday (July 2) which left a 22-year-old woman with bruising.
Officers attended Manor Road just before 6.30pm yesterday to arrest the 30-year-old man.
A police spokesman said:
"Once officers arrived at the property on Tuesday evening the man became agitated and was threatening to harm himself with a number of weapons.
"Tasers were authorised and police negotiators were called in. The man came out of the property and was arrested by police around 11.30pm. No tasers were used and no one suffered any injury during the arrest."
The man was arrested for assault and remains in police custody at this time.

UPDATE: Damian Janes, aged 30 from Newton Abbot, has been charged with assault by beating, he is due to appear at Torquay Magistrates Court this morning.
