New flood alerts issued as rain sweeps across South Devon

A SERIES of Flood Alerts was issued across South Devon on Thursday afternoon.
The Environment Agency say flooding is possible for the Totnes, Ashburton, Buckfastleigh, Dartmouth and Torbay areas on Thursday and Friday.
A Flood Alert has been issued for the South Devon Coast at Beesands, Torcross, Slapton, Torbay and Dawlish. Low lying land and roads will be affected first.
Persistent and heavy rain will move across Devon throughout Thursday and Friday.
Rain is likely to be intense on Thursday evening and Friday afternoon but should clear late on Friday.
Large accumulations are forecast on high ground.
The ground is already very wet and rivers across Devon are likely to respond to this rainfall.
Flooding is also possible for the Rivers Teign, Bovey and Lemon and coastal streams from Babbacombe to Kenton on Thursday and Friday.
Another alert said flooding is also possible for the Rivers Avon, Erme and Harbourne, coastal streams from Bigbury to Dartmouth, and Kingsbridge, South Brent and Ivybridge areas on Thursday and Friday.
