NEWTON Abbot U13s' 11-match winning run came to an end when they lost their Devon Cup quarter-final at Sidmouth 15-14.

A positive start by the All Whites saw them draw first blood after three minutes. Joe Kitto's quick penalty set up wing James Bright who scored under the posts. Fly-half Cameron Fogden converted.

Sidmouth used their pack to good effect and broke through to score three times in 10 minutes to lead 15-7.

Newton continued to create decent opportunities for their back-line and runs by Fogden, Bright and centre Aaron Smith asked questions of the Sidmouth defence before the visitors finally grabbed a lifeline six minutes from time.

Pressure from the Whites forced an error when a poor kick down-field went straight to Bright on the left, who ran back for his 21st try of the season. Fogden added the extras to make it 15-14.

Sidmouth were not to be denied and held on to go through to the semi-finals.

BRIXHAM U13s warmed up for their Devon cup quarter-final at Crediton with a comfortable 56-0 win against Paignton.

The total control at the scrum and line-out, the Brixham backs had lots of opportunities to run.

Brixham try scorers were Olly Jackson, Josh Noakes, Jake Keeble, Jesse Lowe as well as try hat-tricks from Connor Howard and Alex Hatch against his old club.

The extra points were kicked by Jesse Lowe and Jake Keeble.

NEWTON U9 had all out success in a double-header against Wellington and Teignmouth.

Three tries were scored in the first half by George Quick with a further four in the second half from Oscar Graeme, Ben Goble, Charlie Clifford Bourne and Josh Snow.

Superb support in the rucks and mauls came from Jack Brent, Olivia Sanders-Wright, Issac Spurrier and Louis Baker. Newton won 35-10.

Wellington were defeated 35-5 in the second game.

Elliot Shillabeer, Quick , Graeme, Clifford Bourne and Eddie Smout Cooper scored a try each and Goble claimed two.

TORQUAY U9s went down 20-5 to visiting Totnes in a hard-fought game.

Totnes were never behind after taking a 5-0 lead, but Torquay prevented them adding to their tally until the second half.

Harvey Lee clawed a try back for Torquay after the break to make it 10-5, but Torquay got no closer.

Harry Bates and Theo Brent rucked well Burt Incles and Finn Robinson tackled outstandingly, Leo Loasby and Rhys Fuller ran well and Frasier McEvoy and Jenson Adams handled with aplomb.

Theo Brent stood out as man of the match for his protection of the ball and his pure strength in pushing Totnes back.

CHARLIE White marked his first game captaining Newton Abbot U7s with three tries in a 35-30 win over Wellington.

Tom Cooper also scored three with the other try scored by Jack Waters.

Teignmouth got the better of the Newton Abbot 45-30 when the two teams met. There were two tries each for Jack Bayles and Sam Shillabeer, and one each for man of the match White and Warren.

NEWTON Abbot U14s went over Plymstock's try-line 10 times in their latest away victory.

A 59-0 victory was useful preparation for this Sunday's trip to Barnstaple in the Devon Cup.

Archie Williams scored two runaway tries then Myron Ward and Tom Schafer bulldozed under the posts, followed by a jinking run in from Taylor Sullivan.

Benji Pearce completed a powerful team passing move which Cameron Bruce added to with his fourth conversion, leaving Plymstock 38-0 down at the break.

After the interval, Alex Suarez burst through followed by passing moves to give Sullivan another and Schafer two more.

TORQUAY Athletic snatched a 15-10 win over Devonport Services in a Fishermen's Cup thriller.

After a lively start then a delay to deal with an injury to Torquay's Ben Ireland, Devonport took the lead from a penalty.

Torquay responded with an excellent passage of play from the forwards, ending with Calum Luke off loading to Jack Ackery to score a try.

Devonport regained the initiative by scoring to lead 10-5 at half time

After passing the ball along the line Torquay broke through to score again with a second try for Ackery.

Sam Fellows and Adam Dart had key roles running with the ball and passing well throughout the game.

At 10-10 the game was finely balanced, but the Torquay pack continued working hard and lock Callum Anthony charge over for the winning try.

NEWTON Abbot U10s put in a strong performance against a powerful Wellington team at Rackerhayes and were unfortunate to suffer a 20-0 defeat.

In a short second game, The All Whites triumphed 15-5 with two tries from Jacob Gale and one from Max Schaeffer after an excellent cross field run.

Zak Jones, Jack Parker and Hugo Cahill all produced good moments in a well deserved Newton victory.

SKIPPER Jack Fennis scored a try hat-trick to help Torquay U11s to a 38-14 win over Totnes.

After falling behind, Torquay came back and Isaac Fuller levelled. Great rugby followed by Noah Hindley and Henry Trudgill which led to a Louis Smith try.

Following a great catch from Jack Van Kuyk the ball reached Fennis who put it over for a 21-7 half-time lead.

Fennis got his second by running half the pitch, then Fuller and Karl Greatex were strong in the middle which led to Fennis completing his hat-trick.

A move worked from a scrum saw Smith claim his second try of the game.

Totnes scored a try late in the game.

TORQUAY U8s had mixed fortunes against Totnes, winning one game but not the other

In the first game Torquay won 60-50. First-half try scorers were Owen-Lee Provins (2), Lewis Crocker, Harry Sutton, Evan Loasby and Declan Ball.

Harry Sutton was the player to watch in the second half with a superb hat-trick. Captain Callum Crocker scored twice and Man of the Match Cameron Crook-Harris scored in the dying seconds.

Totnes won the second game 45-35. Provins scored four tries and other scorers were Loasby, Sutton and Callum Crocker.
