For a truly romantic evening, you'll want to make the most of Newton Abbot's lovely setting, so why not consider a cosy country inn to canoodle in over the champagne? The Old Rydon Inn at Kingsteignton has oodles of atmosphere, and for Valentine's Day they're offering a special three-course menu for £26.95 – romantic desserts on offer include a chocolate fondue to share! Helenislush loves it: 'The food was fantastic, the service was very pleasant and my husband loved the ale selection. The open fire was inviting and we will definitely be returning soon.'
At Trusham, the Vanilla Pod restaurant at the Cridford Inn has a delectable five-course menu on offer for £34.95, including coffee and chocolates to finish. With a choice of main dishes including duck, sea bass and steak, and puds like hot chocolate fondant and passion fruit brulee, you're guaranteed a meal to put you in the mood for love... specially if you linger to snuggle by the log fire in the bar! the_criddler says: 'Has a very good local reputation, especially for the quality of its desserts.'
Pass the love...
The Field Kitchen at Riverford Organic is renowned for its innovative approach to food, and on 14 February they promise a 'Valentine's dinner with a difference'. Their Pass the Love event will be served in their normal style, meaning no cosy tables for two or clichéd menus in sight, just great organic food served to communal tables to pass around and share. Special treats will include rhubarb bellinis on arrival, choice of seafood, local beef cooked two ways and of course, plenty of great tasting veg – all for £29.90 per person.
There's more imaginative food on offer at Bickley Mill, where their £26.95 three-course Valentine's menu ends with a trio of blackberry inspired desserts. Fruity! intheknow1 says: 'Lovely location in the heart of the countryside. Has a good reputation for food, and ales. A warm welcome is guaranteed.'
An evening to remember
For an evening to remember, why not treat your sweetheart to the Valentine's seven-course Signature Menu at 22 Mill Street in Chagford? If the £65 price tag's a little too much, they also offer an Early Lovers' Lunch at from 12 noon, and an Early Lovers' Supper from 4.00pm, both at £24 for two courses and £29 for three. bookworm87 describes the food there as 'exceptional'.
With all that choice, we know you and your beloved will have a special evening to remember! We love a romantic story here at Newton Abbot People, so do tell us about it – especially if you propose this Valentine's and your sweetheart accepts!
Happy Valentine's Day!
