Never the most surprising news one hears in our town…
So, Carlino’s restaurant, Queen Street – which has been empty for a long, long, time – has been bought be Naz Indian Cuisine for the sum of £425,000.
The Alder King website confirms: “Acting upon the instructions of Grant Thornton UK LLP, property consultants Alder King are pleased to announce the recent sale of the former Carlino’s restaurant at 109 Queen Street, Newton Abbot to Naz Cuisine.”
How do Newton Abbot people feel about this acquisition?
Waste of a great location! It could be a signature site for the town and now it's just an extension of takeaway alley! Just my opinion.

A lot of people must love Indian food going by the number of takeaways and restaurants in Newton so if the demands there......Never tried it myself but maybe I should. Any suggestions for a not too hot or spicy first attempt?

I am currently livid with a manager/director of this restaurant. My wife and i are staunch Eastern Eye fans but last Wed for the first time we tried Naz for an evening meal and really enjoyed it. Excellent food, nice atmosphere, although if we're honest the service on a quiet nite was not over fast but we were not in a rush so were not bothered. Tonite we decided to have a takeaway from them and I placed and order at 7:15pm. At 8:45 i phoned up to ask how much longer it was to be met with a rude and arrogant member of staff who told me that he and the taxi company delivering my food had phoned me over 20 times. He had the wrong number yet told me it was my fault despite the fact i gave him our address and my phone number that i have had over 10 yrs. He proceeded to tell me he had wasted £6.50 on the taxi driver to deliver our food who had kept it. He would and could not answer me why a local taxi firm had not been able to find us when all the other local chinese, pizza and other indian restaurant can and do locate us...... He also told me had was to busy to talk to me as he had a busy restaurant with 20 people in front of him.....*** that has to be BS. When i asked why a local taxi firm could not find us from the address we had provided all he could say was 'you need to phone them' ? you what? i'm your customer whom you obviously dont give a monkeys about. No wonder that whilst we were there a member of staff told us that Eastern Eye is the busiest Indian in the SW - they have customer service that is awesome ! This guy needs to go and work there for a few works to learn what a customer is. Never again will we darken the doors of Naz and hopefully in the near future maybe it will become something Newton could use like a Thai restaurant.
Sadly i cannot in anyway recommend Naz, even to sit it given this appalling lack of manners/customer service of one(?) of its Directors. We shall not be going again. Update : takeaway ordered form Eastern Eye, chap phones just now to confirm location. food here. Less than 30 mins from the order. Thanks Eastern Eye. We are not hungry now.
That's quite a shocking story. Glad Eastern Eye came to the rescue!
