Hele Park is not closing. The Club will be dissolving in it's current format as of the 31st March 2012. A new Club will be established whereby there will be 2 competitions a month with the ability to attain and retain handicaps. The course will still have a membership so that people can still enjoy playing golf at Hele.
Hele Park has not been sold, nor have the proprietors been approached by developers with a view to buy Hele Park.
The course, range and restaurant are all open to members and visitors for the forseeable future.
I hope this helps clarify the various rumours with regards to this.

Not sure this is great news myself. How long will the club stay open in this new format?
Can you clarify these quotes please Hele Park? The original Herald Express story says: "We have been approached with a view to selling the golf course for development at some point in the future.
"For many reasons we have decided to accept the offer, leading to our decision to close and dissolve Hele Park Golf Club with effect from Saturday, March 31, 2012." (Mrs Stanbury)
So the club hasn't been sold to developers but could be at some point in the future - what offer has been accepted then?

The owners of Hele Park have entered into an agreement with Commercial Estates Group which will enable CEG to promote the golf course as a potential site for future development. CEG is now managing this process and the course will remain open in its new format until further notice. Before any development proposals are submitted to the council they will consult fully with local people. Everyone at Hele Park remains committed to the members and friends of the course and as soon as there is any further information it will be passed on.

My interpretation (in plain English):
* It's available for sale
* Local people will get a chance to have their say about any planning applications (because it's the law)
* Something hideous will probably get built anyway
It's a real shame, but it's their land so they are entitled to sell it.
