Free Choir Concert

Newton Community Choir (NCC) and Newton Gospel Group (NGG) are springing into action by offering a FREE three week trial to new comers. Those who are interested can watch the choir’s free Spring Concert at the Avenue Church, Newton Abbot on Saturday 13th April at 6pm, where you can hear harmonised numbers like ‘I’m a Believer’ and ‘Rule the World’ and gospel songs like ‘Amazing Grace’ and ‘Down by the Riverside’.

Both choirs are informal, sociable and approachable with no commitments and no auditions. NCC sing a mixture of songs from pop to musical theatre to African songs. NGG sing both traditional & contemporary gospel songs, without religious preaching.

Megan Taper, choir leader, said, ‘Now that the evenings are getting lighter we would like to encourage people to join our fun singing sessions. NGG will be singing uplifting gospel numbers throughout the summer and NCC will be singing sea shanties which will be sung on a local beach in August with fish and chips!’
