Visitors to Stover Country Park will have the chance to take part in a host of events this weekend (Saturday, July 24) as part of a celebration of archaeology.

People can learn about life in a roundhouse with archaeologist, broadcaster and writer Julian Richards, or can try their hand at grinding corn with a traditional hand-quern or make a prehistoric pot.

There's a chance to see a dugout log-boat being made and learn how Bronze Age tools were made with authentic materials and methods, as well as information on the archaeology of the area.

Numerous free activities will be running throughout the day including bronze casting, flint knapping, felt making, corn grinding, wattle and daub and clay workshops, fire lighting and cooking.

Admission to the event is free, and parking at the park is 75p for two hours and £1.30 for over two hours.

Devon County Council's Archaeology Event is part of National Archaeology Week celebrating the Festival of British Archaeology. Further information on Stover Country Park is available at www.devon.gov.uk/stover_country_park.
