Owing to overwhelming public demand and following the huge success of last year’s South Devon Festival headlined by Will Young, organisers have announced they are running another festival this year.

The event will run over 3 days, from Friday, July 1to Sunday, July 3 and takes place in Ipplepen, Newton Abbot, next to Fermoys Garden Centre. There will be more than 18 bands playing across the weekend as well as food and drink stalls, craft stalls and workshops and children’s activities.
Headlining the opening night is “Mercury”, considered one of the world’s greatest Queen tributes and has been personally endorsed by the late Freddie Mercury’s mum, Jer Bulsara.
Saturday, July 2 will see Southampton’s finest export, the critically acclaimed “Delays” headlining. Having burst onto the music scene in 2004 with their debut album “Faded Seaside Glamour” which immediately climbed high into the top 20 album chart, the band have since released a further three. Entertaining crowds at sell out concerts all over the globe, they have headlined both NME’s T in the park as well as channel 4’s V Fest.
One of the surprise successes of last year’s festival was “The Wurzels” and they have agreed to return this year to close the event on the Sunday. Other bands to play include local bands The Iconyx and 3BF as well as bands from all over the country.
Conscious of the constraints on personal finances this year, festival organisers have made the price a modest £10 a day or £25 for a weekend ticket with under 14’s being admitted free with a full paying adult. They are onsale now and can be purchased online at www.southdevonfestival.co.uk
Organiser Tim Barrs said “Last year’s festival was so popular and I was contacted by so many people asking if I was running another one, I decided to do it again. I have received over 500 submissions from bands wanting to be a part of it, not only from local musicians but worldwide, including New Zealand! After following and reacting to feedback from last year, we are hopeful that this year’s festival will be bigger and better than ever.”
The festival will also raise funds for local charity Devon Air Ambulance Trust.

Said organiser Tim Barrs on Facebook:
“Sadly, the festival has had to be cancelled due to lack of support. Those few that have bought tickets will be refunded as soon as possible. Thank you to all the bands that agreed to play, I'm so sorry it couldn't happen. A sign of the times I think......”
