Work to repair sections of road surface on the A38 between the Goodstone and Drumbridges junctions near Ashburton is due to take place later this month.

Repairs in both directions on this three-and-a-half mile stretch of dual carriageway are scheduled to begin on 22 March and are due to be completed by 26 March.

To reduce inconvenience to drivers, the work will take place overnight, between 8pm and 6am the following morning.

During some stages of the work a convoy system will be in operation, where drivers will follow a marked vehicle through the works at 10mph.

On some evenings it will be necessary to close the road to allow the work to take place safely on the main carriageway. A clearly signed diversion route will be in place.

DIVERSIONS

Westbound traffic will be diverted to leave the A38 at the Drumbridges Interchange and onto the old A38 via Bickington. At the junction of the A383 traffic will turn right and then rejoin the A38 at the Goodstone Junction.

Eastbound traffic will be diverted to leave the A38 at Goodstone Junction on to the A383, turning left onto the old A38 via Bickington. Traffic will rejoin the A38 at the Drumbridges Interchange.

During Goodstone junction westbound entry sliproad closures, traffic wishing to gain access to the A38 in a westbound direction will be diverted via the above route in an eastbound direction to rejoin the A38 westbound carriageway at the Drumbridges Interchange.  Advanced warning of this slip road closure will be provided in Newton Abbott advising A383 traffic to use the alternative route of the A382 back to Drumbridges
