Library ‘Donor Cards’ scheme

The local authority is asking
people to consider donating their old photographs to the Westcountry Studies
Library if they are no longer wanted.
A spokesman said: “Often
during house clearances historical photos are destroyed and Devon County
Council has developed a 'donor card' for householders to attach to their photos
which instructs heirs or executors to give particular photos to the library.
“The library already holds
thousands of photos, prints and drawings which are available for public use and
it is hoped the card will make sure that valuable photographs are not lost.”
The card is available from
all Devon Libraries, the Devon Record Office and the Devon and Exeter
Institution.
Do you think this will be a popular scheme? Would you want your photo
collection on display posthumously?
