-
New play park.
Funded by the BIG Lottery Fund via Teignbridge District Council - Children from the local primary school pitched in to help design the structure, making sure it's exactly what local youngsters want.
This was followed by a wood workshop in the area that members of the community took part in to help build the final play structure, which includes monkey rings hanging between trees, a natural wooden tunnel and balancing beams.
The project has been a real success with an aim of involving the community and their youngsters in the design and build of the play structure, encouraging them to take ownership therefore helping to reduce the likelihood of vandalism, which has been an issue in some areas in the past.
Cllr Steve Chown of Chudleigh Knighton Parish Council said:
"There has been a real community spirit with the young people and adults working together to create this environmental play area."
New play structures around the district now form an environmental play trail for Teignbridge, and a leaflet highlighting the trail will be produced in early April, available from Teignbridge Council offices and online at: www.teignbridge.gov.uk/playactivities.
