I know people also complained to the council. Passing recently though I’ve found that the staff now just stay in the shop so I don’t have to cross the street to avoid them.
Have other people noticed the same? Are they no longer allowed to sell on the street. Thanks.

Good for you, however they do still get you if they can. They are not quite so in your face with their approach but do still go all out to get your attention and business if possible. sometimes if depends on the weather if they are out much.

Was in town earlier and no hassle, so all good.

It started to become an issue when the staff were hassling old people and not taking NO for an answer. I've encountered the sales staff from this particular shop and they used to be quite aggressive in their sales techniques which can be very intimidating, especially to older people.

If people are complaining about being harassed then it obviously IS a big deal to them. Why can't people shop without worrying about crossing the street all the time?

I don't know why people make such a big deal out of a few sales staff trying to gain some extra business. If you aren't interested, you only have to say no. At least they're being pro active in such tough times.
