Newton Abbot police call on witnesses to peddle cycle/car accident

Newton Abbot police are calling for further local information after a road traffic collision – on the A381 approximately 3 miles from Totnes towards Dartmouth at about 5.40pm on Monday - was reported to them.

The rider of the pedal cycle, a 14-year-old boy from the Diptford area, was taken to Torbay district hospital after colliding with a VW Passat registered to a man in Stoke Fleming.

The vehicle has been seized as a matter of course for a forensic collision investigation examination.

Over the following hours the boy’s condition worsened and he was transferred to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol where he is currently described as in a serious but stable condition. 

The collision is now being investigated by officers from the roads policing from Newton Abbot.

They are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to please come forward and speak with police if they have not already done so.
