Google has announced that its Street View service now encompasses 95 per cent of Britain’s roads – leaving no stone in Newton Abbot uncovered!

Courtenay Park.
The cameras seem to have caught Newton Abbot on a good day – with spots of blue in the sky.
Courtenay Park is looking as picturesque as ever – Torquay Road is as busy as ever!
The town centre looks to be vibrant as usual although it’s sad to see several shops trading that have since shut down. (notably Bendles).
Those unfamiliar with the website (Google Street View), key in a street, place or postcode, click search and then drag the orange man icon onto the map. Soon you’ll see your required destination as if walking or in a car. Click the direction icon in the corner to further explore.
Are there any familiar faces? Can you see anything funny? You might even discover a part of Newton Abbot that you’ve never seen before.
Naturally such a tool as attraction opposition from some who say it’s an invasion of privacy and gives information that could be exploited by criminals.
Campaigner Alex Deane, director of Big Brother Watch, told the Daily Telegraph Online that he is concerned about the privacy implications of Street View after a number of people contacted him with their concerns.
He said: "For many, Google's Street View cameras are an upsetting invasion of privacy. People tend not to be asked whether they are comfortable with it coming to their town.
"When it arrives somewhere for the first time, those who are concerned about being captured should check it to see if they or their property are now on worldwide public view.
If you were caught on Street View would you be offended? I guess that depends what you’re going!

I don't understand what you mean bigsteve. There are bollards there at the moment. Checking in the town centre 'that' mobile phone shop has no sales people outside! Hooray!

ReportSome of it must have been done a long time ago. In Kingskerswell there's still bollards in the middle of the road by the Sloop.
