SLOWING DOWN THE TRAFFIC ON WOLBROUGH STREET
By del8395 | Wednesday, September 23, 2009, 23:19
hi as a resident living on the busy Wolborough Street I wonder what people would think about slowing the traffic travelling in and out of the town? over the last twenty years we have seen several serious accidents where vehicles speed up after passing the speed camera ( and I must admit I have done it too) then collide with cars pulling out from Bakers Park. I think the camera should be much closer to the park junction to slow the cars as they reach the park junction.
As you may know the pavement leading the to the park is very narrow so again slowing the traffic would benefit the many children who use the park.
What do you think?

Pulling out of Linden Terrace is VERY dangerous too. you have to lean forward to see what's coming on the right.

ReportAsda, has in fact helped a great deal with the flow of traffic. But we need to do somethink too slow the traffic after they leave the speed cameras as generally the vehicles speed up and cyclists are more dangours because they try to weave around the cars who have to back out onto the road. Mind you we have seen cars drive on to the pavement rather than stop or slow down when we or our fellow residents try to get out of their drives. Some peoplr are just loony.....

ReportAsda doesn't really help the situation either.

ReportWe need cameras or some sort of calming all the way up this road, At night the idiots come out and drive like madmen and during the day traffic seems to pile up when a lorry tries to get through near the bottom of the road. Perhaps a quick word in the ear of Mr Hook may not go amiss.
They have people spending all day counting the traffic and yes you can guess, it will not be on a Wednesday or Tuesday when there are markets in the Town.
Wolborough Street and the Totnes road was never made for the amount of Traffic it carries today. It could do with a Bypass but where would you put it.. we dont want to lose any more of the woods and Coach Road is way to narrow to widen so it seems we just have to put up with it until there are more accidents. There was talk of more houses at Ogwell Cross and that will only make the traffic far worse than it already is..sighs!!...OH I am a happy bunny today...lol

ReportTraffic lights would never be popular but that would certainly make the Baker's Park turning ultra safe.
