IN a bid to entertain locals and visitors this summer, Brixham Arts and Theatre Society (BATS) is staging a series of short plays featuring talented local actors.
The community group recently took over the day-to-day running of the theatre and adjoining Scala Hall from Torbay Council, and is determined to make a success of the venture.
From August 10 and running every Tuesday and Thursday evening until August 26, BATS will be bringing Deckchairs to the stage.
Director John Miles said: “This is a series of short plays all relating to two women who find themselves on a seaside promenade.
“Ranging from farce to drama, these plays give our talented cast of eight ample scope to amuse and shock you in turns.
“Featuring talent from Brixham, plus some of the best actresses from the area, this promises to be the start of great events at Brixham Theatre.”
To complement these productions, BATS will welcome the highly acclaimed Newton Abbot-based company How Apt to the theatre on August 11, 18 and 25.
The show, Summer’s Enchanted Evening, features entertainment from the best of contemporary musical theatre.
John said: “This show, with a cast of six singers and musicians, will delight the audience with songs from recent and current West End musicals.”
All shows start at 7.30pm. Tickets are £8, or £7 for BATS members, and are available at the box office on 01803 850899 or on the door.
