The deadline is looming for nominations for the community transport awards in the region.
Devon County Council is reminding people that they have until April 30 to put forward those individuals and groups who they feel should be honoured for making outstanding contributions to community transport.
Several new categories will be included in this year’s ceremony at Larkbeare House in Exeter on Friday June 4. The category for Community Transport Volunteers will still feature at the event, and one person will once again be selected overall as the ‘Community Transport Volunteer of the Year’.
However, new awards will also be presented for community transport groups, including Best Fundraising Campaign/Event, Most Innovative Project and Outstanding People Development, for which groups are encouraged to nominate themselves.
Paid staff will now be honoured with the new category of Employee of the Year, and also for the first time there will be an Outstanding Lifetime Contribution award.
Anyone working in the community transport sector can be nominated, and forms are sent to groups working in various areas of rural and community transport right across Devon. All nominations will be considered by a judging panel consisting of representatives from Devon County Council, the Community Council of Devon & Involve - Voluntary Action in Mid Devon.
Nomination forms are available online from Devon County Council at: www.devon.gov.uk/community_transport or by calling Devon County Council’s Community Transport Team on 01392 382123 and must be submitted by April 30.
