Two new Chef Tutors, James Knight-Pacheco and Phil Oram, have joined the Ashburton Cookery School in South Devon bringing the teaching team up to six working with Chef Director Darrin Hosegrove. This expansion has been brought about by the school’s recent move to a new, ultra-modern building with three superbly equipped teaching kitchens and an increase in the number of courses to around forty-five.

James Knight-Pacheco came runner-up with friend Alasdair Hooper on the BBC television show ‘The Restaurant’ and was subsequently offered a year long position at Raymond Blanc’s Le Manoir where he worked every station. A follow-up TV series starring James and Alasdair called 'Out of the Frying Pan', starts on BBC2 this month (March). He learnt his art at some of the country’s finest restaurants including Gordon Ramsay at Claridges and The Square in Mayfair.
Combining his enthusiasm for inspiring students with a passion for cooking local produce, Phil Oram was a Chef Lecturer at Exeter College teaching students to an advanced level and Product Development Chef for Devon based Ark Chickens. He has cooked at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London’s Park Lane; the RAC Club in Pall Mall and Gidleigh Park under Michelin-starred chef, Michael Caines.
