It’s a choir, but not as we know it

A NEW community choir is coming to Newton Abbot.
Newton Community Choir is being launched next Thursday, August 5, at the Ship Inn.
Choir leader Megan Beadman
The weekly sessions will start every Thursday with a singing workshop from 6.45pm until 7.30pm, where Megan will teach harmonised popular songs.
The evening will continue with a singing group from 7.45pm-9.30pm, learning one or two harmonised songs for all abilities, followed by a sing-along to popular choices from Queen, Amy Winehouse and The Beatles to gospel, world music and sea shanties.
Men and women aged over 16 are welcome and there are no auditions.
Megan added: “Choirs are often thought of as rather solemn groups only singing classical songs, but the group will sit informally with word sheets, and learn from ear rather than reading music.”
Call Megan on 07865 779977 for details.
