A PRIMARY school in Newton Abbot is having a party to celebrate a massive milestone.
Decoy Primary School is putting on a day of fun to mark its 100th birthday.
The school’s major family event will take place Saturday, June 18, from 4pm.
Ahead of the event, the school has sent out an SOS for any former pupils or teachers to get in touch with their memories.
A school spokesman said: “The day will be fun for everyone, but we want to try to stick with educational purposes.
“We would love to hear from any parents or grandparents who attended Decoy. People can send us photos and stories and help us delve into the history of our school.
“It is a fantastic opportunity to see how the school has changed over the past 100 years.
“We have been in touch with Coombeshead College as well as Newton Abbot College to make the day more exciting and to really spread the word.
“Our own pupils will be performing but we will also be looking for local bands to play on the day, perhaps those who attended local secondary schools.”
There will be an array of events, from pony rides to face painting, and refreshments including a beer tent, cream teas and a barbecue. Live music will also be put on.
The event is open to everyone. Posters will soon be put up in and around Newton Abbot to promote the event.
