With so much top sport going on in Teignbridge it's good to see that the sports personality awards have been reinstated. Not only do they offer recognition for all those who work within the sporting fields, but it's something of a celebration of sporting achievement.There are 14 categories of choose from, again a reflection of strength and depth of participation in district.Cllr Jeremy Christophers, Teignbridge Council's Member Champion for Sport told the People's Republic of South Devon website: "The Sports Personality Awards provide popular and worthy recognition of some of our best local sporting talent. I believe that we should be doing everything we can to nurture and encourage this talent, so it's very welcome to see the Awards back within 2009.

"The focus now is on delivering a value-for-money top-quality ceremony which celebrates success and encourages more people to get involved in sport."

Nomination forms will be available from next week at Teignbridge Council's Forde House reception, in Tourist Information Centres, Leisure Centres, schools, sports clubs, and online at www.teignbridge.gov.uk/sportspersonality. The closing date for nominations will be Friday, September 18, 2009.
